Civic Course 2008

I just survived the civic course organised by the Department of Information which was held from the 15th to the 17th of January. It didn't require alot of neurons considering it was just listening to 8 lectures in the two of the days. I learned alot (I think...).

The coming-to third and fourth years had to go and i don't think i regret going. i did get the whole week off from attachment so that was certainly an upside. AND i tried the Flying Fox at Outward Bound, Temburong... it wasn't that high up in fact, so my no fear of heights can't be justified, just yet.

This is how the drama unfolded during the three days:

Day Numero Uno:

  • Sistem Pemerintahan & Struktur Pemerintahan Negara, which i found to be an over-emphasis that our beloved Brunei is an absolute monarchy and that we should live and be proud of our MIB ways
  • Program Mempelbagaikan Ekonomi Negara, a talk about BEDB's role in major future projects such as SPARK (that site that you can't miss on the way to Seria), Pulau Muara Besar and iCentre.
  • Intelektual Islam, baik kita jadi orang tahu yang ia tahu ia tahu. konpius? jangan.
  • Tabung Amanah Pekerja (TAP), funny penceramah on how they can help secure our retirement. start now or regret it?
  • Saw myself on tv that night heh heh. aimi does interview in malay and english - impressive!~

Day Deux:

  • Left for Temburong and learned about Kampong Cemerlang awarded to Kampung Belais and Buda-Buda as well as kucai (which i think is spring onion)
  • Listened to a really unprepared ceramah on different sites you can visit in Temburong in the district office
  • The highlight of the day: Outward Bound and tried the Flying Fox. my heart did not beat as hard as it does when i go for a debate or a really dreaded CEIC exam - strange, i say.

Day Drei:

  • Sistem Pendidikan Negara (SPN 21), the new face of education of Brunei - interesting.
  • Kesalamatan Dalam Negeri (JKDN), be aware of your surroundings and they are watching you
  • Industri Pelancongan di Negara Brunei Darussalam, it's a team effort to promote Brunei to its targeted market
  • Sistem Kementrian Kesihatan, unrelevant and now sah there is a role for pharmacists! *sarcastic tone*
  • interview came out in News at 10 - ehehe...i had no idea what i was talking about

Hopefully, photos should come up soon :)
